It Aint Half Hot Mum

To make a change to tales of our travels, we thought we would give our top ten annoying things we have found on our trip so far.

In no particular order:

10. Being ripped off for being a westerner - more the principle than price that winds me up.

9. Squat n plop toilets with grimy, slippy floors (very dangerous when drunk).

7. Having to stay next to toilet with Delhi-Belly for days for fear of bum-wee.

6. Driving in India - buses, cows, dogs, and idiots on bikes.

What happened to number 8? - nevermind, it's late and I've been suffering from a bad case of number 7 for some time.

5. Mothballs. The smell of mothballs everywhere - this is a personal pet hate of Sarah's.

4. Dirty hotels with crappy service - special mention goes to the Manor Hotel in Aurangabad (the receptionist burped in Sarah's face).

3. Hardline travellers pretending to not be tourists - sorry but as soon as you sit your ass on that plane you are a tourist, deal with it!

2. Hawkers and beggars working the streets and beaches in teams.

1. Sarah Bloody Hope (I'm only joking of course).

1. Hocking up phlegm. This seems to be a bit of a national pastime in India and Nepal (both men and women are at it.)

So.... A Happy New Year to you all. After reading our top ten you may be forgiven for thinking that we are a pair of miserable ingrates who don't deserve to be enjoying the life of riley. Well that much may be right, but in truth, we are having a great time - despite me contracting amoebic dysentry over christmas (I'm fine now thanks). The above list is our way of trying to make those january blues a little less chilly for all of you. We figured the last thing that you want to hear is that we are living it up in the sun having great fun doing very little.

We are going to try our best to not get bored and fill our time here in Goa till we head up to Rajastan next month (my mum is coming for a holiday).
I would like to tell you more, but to be honest there isn't much more to tell. All the best for the new year, watch you don't slip on the ice on the way to work.

Lots of Love Andrew & Sarah x

Here are some photos of us back in Goa for Xmas

Indian Santa. The mask scared us, nevermind the kids!

Our flat and our xmas decorations, bit lacking I know, but we tried.

We spent Xmas Eve in Tabla, the restaurant in our resort, the staff had decorated it beautifully - it felt very xmasy which was nice as xmas abroad is a bit strange

Andrew opening his xmas presents on Xmas day in Grandma's Kitchen, the place where we had our yummy Xmas dinner however eating a roast dinner in 30deg heat is pretty hard work and not one to be repeated

Andrew Santa Claus

Sarah - OMG! I hate this picture I look a right idiot but I had to conceed it must go on as I always put pics on which Andrew doesnt like

Us in Panjim

Views from the Mariott at Panjim (Goa's capital city) we went across for sunday brunch which involved unlimited alcohol and lush food - due to Andrews illness he had to settle for the non alcholic brunch!

We went across to Panjim on the ferry to watch Avatar at the cinema but only in 2D which was a shame as it was brilliant and it
would have been amazing to watch it in 3D

The sunset at Betim as we headed back to Arpora from the ferry
